The shelter was to be certified to withstand a
F-5 tornado and safely hold twelve (21) adults comfortably.
The unit was to be constructed above-ground in the interior of an existing building, on a concrete floor, and be made completely of steel with appropriate ventilation for comfortable breathing.
The physical dimensions were to be 7.83 feet wide by 13.16 feet long by 7.66 feet in height.
Remagen supplied all labor and material and completed the project in two (2) days by June 2007. The unit complies with the NSSA standard and FEMA 361. |
